Music preferences

About a year ago, I intentionally listened to some ultra-popular music often regarded as a sort of junk. Despite its quality, I found from that that music is not really harmful. Since then, I've listened to more wisely-picked music, to apparent benefit.

I mostly listen to music as I review with Memoire, and sometimes as I do other computer-tasks. To listen on its own, sans other activity, would be a gratuitous, unfulfilling pursuit of pleasure.

Tunes easily stick in my head. This can make me happy, but lyrics stuck in my head instead distract and distort thought. So I avoid, even detest, lyrical music.

you don't have to listen to the lyrics as words

you can listen to them as sounds

Alas, this power eludes me.

I pick music based mostly on peers' recommendations. I track my opinions thereof. Sith I don't use any social music services like Spotify, I share those records here.

Each album — or, more often, soundtrack — listed here is rated crudely as one of "bad", "mid", or "good". Respectively, they're formatted with strikethru, as normal text, or in bold. Initials of those who recommend are of people I know in person. The dates of when I first listened are rounded to the nearest ten days, sith it takes a few days per album.
